Clear Skin Diet

Acne is the most common skin disorder in the U.S.; and that’s not because there’s a larger population of teens. No age group is safe from blemishes, but new research suggests some effective ways to fight it. According to Eric Schweiger, M.D., founder of Schweiger Dermatology Group (New York City), foods high on the glycemic index are likely responsible for blemishes. That means white breads and sugary drinks are off limits if your clients want clear skin free of pimples. New research shows these foods trigger the production of androgens, a hormone responsible for oil production. More oil means more clogged pores and unbalanced skin, which both lead to breakouts.
